Accreditations - ISO 14001
We are delighted to announce that Weedfree On Track Limited has now been awarded ISO 14001 certification for its Environmental Management System. This covers our entire rail borne weed control operation, including the provision of operators for applications on the main line networks Great Britain, road-rail applications to the Northern Ireland network, branch lines, metro networks and heritage railways, and our international spray train operation, based in Belgium.
This qualification is the international standard that specifies a process for controlling and improving an organisation’s environmental importance.
Our customers and the general public increasingly recognise the importance of minimising the impact that business activities can have on the environment, whether through energy use, waste generation or loss of amenity. In many respects, the railways have a good environmental record, but more can be done to reduce energy use, recycle waste and eliminate pollution risks. Weedfree are proud to be making our contribution to this continuous improvement process.
An example of this is our newly commissioned spray train, operational in Europe from spring this year, which will use the latest technology to greatly reduce the amount of pesticide used to control weeds on main line railway tracks, while at the same time operating more efficiently and with more accurate recording.
