Belgium 1st Application - Continued Reductions in Herbicide Usage

June 2009 marked the successful completion of this years Belgium first application for Weedfree on Track and our market leading spray train.

Utilising the trains on board weed mapping technology along with Belgium weed maps from the 2008 campaign, we have reduced product usage by a further 15% on top of last years impressive figures. This equates to a 50% reduction in the herbicide used during 2007 when conventional spraying techniques were applied.

The most obvious benefit to this huge reduction in herbicide is the implications on the surrounding environment. Adding to the fact that the train also uses half the amount of water that conventional sprayers do (which can equate to in excess of 1,000,000 litres for a whole season), it is easy to see why this new technology is being so well received.

Because the spray train can operate at speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour, it can easily be planned in and around working traffic and as such, has a minimum impact on the network. It also has the flexibility of working day or night offering up a wealth of flexibility to the client.

Even taking into account the success of the 2009 1st application, we are confident of further herbicide reductions during the second application and onwards into 2010.

Unlike other sprayers, the Weedfree spray train is constantly evolving as new technology is being developed and as such, will only get better as time goes on.
